It’s hard to believe its that time of year again. This year has certainly been different in more ways than we could have imagined 😳.

Though we are a bit behind schedule in getting this out, we wanted to share some great last-minute ideas for gifts to give (or to put on your wish list) to support your health and the health of those around you.

So without further ado, here we go:

Red light/near-infrared light
We plan to write a more detailed post about red and infrared light therapy in the near future, but if you haven’t heard of this amazing therapy, it is something to look into.

There are now over 3,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies showing incredible health and anti-aging benefits of red light therapy and near-infrared light therapy. The list of what these lights can do is pretty amazing and extensive. We have seen research that these lights can help:

  • Fight skin aging, wrinkles
  • Decrease fat, chronic inflammation and pain
  • Combat hair loss
  • Speed up wound/injury healing
  • Combat some autoimmune conditions and improve hormonal health
  • Optimize brain function and mood
  • Overcome fatigue and improve energy levels

Most research showing benefits of red light and near-infrared light use wavelengths in the ranges of 630-680nm and 800-880nm, so if this is something you want to do, it is important to look for lights that are in those ranges.

While there are a wide range of options out there at a wide range of prices (anywhere from a single light for about $30 to a full body panel for $2k+) we did some research before investing. We found this one to be a great option. (We have the Targeted Red Light Therapy X-60 model). It got great reviews and costs much less than other similar models out there. It comes with goggles to protect your eyes (the light is extremely bright), has a stand so you can put it on a desk or a table, and also has a hanging kit so you can hang it from your door. Adjustable dumbbells
Since many of us are exercising from home more, we are looking for more “tools” to add to our home gyms. We both tend to be home exercisers and know that doing weight training is so vital as we get older. We love this compact set of adjustable dumbbells that you can make weigh anywhere from 2.5 to 25 pounds (in 2.5 lb increments). They hardly take up any space and are so easy to adjust.

Since demand has been pretty high this year, it was a bit hard to find the ones we use. This site has a similar set and also has heavier weights if you have been lifting awhile and are using higher weights.

Instant Pot
This has been on our list for 3 years in a row now. This has literally been life changing as we rely on our Instant Pots several times a week. There are so many ways to use it and once you turn it on, you can go exercise or meditate or read our blog 😉. It’s almost like having your own sous chef doing the work for you. Bonus – it looks like it’s on sale!

Dry Farm Wines
These wines are high quality natural wines from small family farms and are all additive free. In addition they are lab tested for purity (unheard of!). In addition they are sugar free (<0.15g/glass) and contain lower concentration of alcohol (<12.5%).

Verage Skin Care
We are big fans of this skin care set. Veráge is an exclusive system of natural skin care products that nourish and hydrate skin and reduce the visible signs of aging. The advanced plant technology used in Veráge promotes the appearance of an optimal lipid balance—the same balance found in healthy, youthful-looking skin.

Each product is composed of nourishing plant extracts, pure and potent certified and tested essential oils, and select natural ingredients. This kit includes a cleanser, toner, moisturizer and hydrating serum. Note that this link also includes a $35 membership so you can get this and all their products at a 25% discount.

5 Min Journal
This gem of a journal takes only 5 minutes of your day but is SUCH a powerful tool to help you feel grounded and positive. Each page starts with a daily quote and then includes a handful of simple prompts with space for your answers.

The prompts help you with gratitude, planning your day, and acknowledging positive things in your life. The 5-minute journal has been proven to elevate happiness and productivity. What a great way to start the brand new year 🙂

Jade Yoga Mats
These environmentally friendly, (non slippery) yoga mats are made from rubber trees (a renewable resource) grown in the US, in compliance with U.S. environmental laws.

They contain no PVCs – which qualifies them as “green” and non-toxic. What’s also cool is that they plant a tree for every mat sold, AND give a portion of their sales to community and global causes and organizations, so they are always giving back. Check out their harmony mats – they have gorgeous colors too.

Protect your eyes!
We found these blue light blocking glasses and they have become a favorite. Stephanie originally got them for her son for remote learning (so much screen time, ugh). However, she liked them so much she got a few sets for herself – one set of readers and one set with 0 magnification for watching tv.
The glasses are amber tinted and cut down on screen glare noticeably. Keep in mind, blue light interferes with melatonin production, so wearing blue light blocking glasses in the evening can help promote better sleep.

Help fight hunger/food insecurity
Last but NOT least, it’s always a fantastic idea to donate to a special cause in someone’s name. We recently came across the organization World Central Kitchen. They have a number of amazing programs, but the one that caught our attention this year is called #ChefsForAmerica.

This particular program is all about distributing packaged, fresh meals in communities that need support. This year alone, they provided over 33 million meals in more than 400 cities across the US. They partner with restaurants so it’s a win-win to help businesses too. Learn more about it (and how to donate) right here.

That’s a wrap! Have a healthy, happy holiday and safe New Year.
